The Playing Fields Association

Sutton on the Forest Playing FieldSutton Playing Field is owned Hambleton District Council and leased to the Parish Council on a long lease. The small former orchard to the south of the playing field is owned by the Parish Council. Both areas are cared for by the Playing Field Association, a voluntary group that helps to manage the playing field through: fundraising; organising events and; carrying out maintenance work.

The field provides green space for all the village to enjoy and has: children’s play equipment; football goals; a petanque court; outdoor table tennis; a BBQ; picnic tables and benches.

The Sutton 10KThe playing field has also hosted a wide range of formal and informal activities from fun days and festivals to evening football and boules. The committee organises two maintenance days each year to help keep the area maintained and has also hosted Duke of Edinburgh volunteers.   Our main event of the year and our biggest fundraiser is the Sutton Park 10km run each September http://www.sutton10k.org/

The orchard area

The orchard area provides a small wildlife reserve in the heart of village and the gradual restoration of this area, as well as the introduction of more wildflowers provides also provides a place to play and a source of apples for those interested in picking them.

The Playing Fields Committee
