Newby Hall and Gardens

Newby Hall and GardensAlways a big favourite with all members of the family. There are the acres of beautiful gardens to wander through and the guided tours of the house and its treasures; the fantastic children’s adventure playground and the charming miniature railway. added to this there is now a wonderful exhibition of Dolls’ Houses to admire and new this year is the Bear House, a collection of furry favourites. Forgotten something? oh yes – of course there is a restaurant!

Just inside the entrance to the grounds is the Church of Christ the Consoler with its poignant story and link to the Newby Hall Vyner family, (its sister church: St Mary’s, Studley Royal). On the way in we plan to stop and have a short visit to explore this unique building, designed by William Burges, before continuing up the drive to the gardens.

The coach will pick up at 10:30am at Huby Memorial Hall, then at Huby Chapel, on to All Hallows Church and lastly at the Old Post Office, Sutton. We aim to be back in the villages at 5pm. The coach fare is £20 for adults, children free as we are delighted to have young families join us.

The admission fee to the gardens, dolls house and teddy-bear exhibitions: adult £11; over 65 £10; child 4-15 £8.50; family 2+2 £35, 2+3 £42; groups over 15 get a discount amounting to a pound a ticket, (this could work for us, could mean that extra piece of lemon drizzle!). The Hall is in the Historic Houses scheme – members, remember to bring your card!

Please add your name on the list which will be at the back of church. For more information call Mary on (01347) 810009, Olivia on (01347) 810617 or Pam on (01347) 810415.

As always, a big welcome to everyone who would like to join our day out – family, friends, neighbours!
