Mr Burton
Mr Burton is a 2025 British film about the early life of Welsh actor Richard Burton.
Toby Jones stars as the spaniel-eyed Mr Burton and Harry Lawtey is Richard, a lanky, needy kid morphing into that insufferably haughty and sonorous prince of the English stage. It tells a uniquely painful and dysfunctional story, and does its best to show how Burton’s pride always coexisted with shame and self-hate, and culminated with him playing Hal in Henry IV Part 2 at Stratford with Mr Burton in the audience.

The Ballad of Wallis Island
Herb McGwyer (Tom Basden), turns up in a rickety boat to Wallis Island expecting an intimate, rural festival-type gig. Only, his hotel is actually the home of Charles (Tim Key); the audience is, well, Charles; and, unbeknownst to him, he’ll be reuniting for the first time in a decade or so with his ex-musical and romantic partner, Nell Mortimer (Carey Mulligan).
The Ballad of Wallis Island is an affecting comedy that contemplates the pains and pleasures of a musical career in freefall.

The Penguin Lessons
Based on Tom Michell’s memoir, the story of a British teacher in 1970s Argentina, who rescues a penguin and smuggles him into his school, changing the lives of students along the way.
The Penguin Lessons brings warmth by focusing on the bond between the teacher and the penguin that is hard to resist. While it doesn’t explore the political climate of Argentina fully, the penguin becomes a symbol of hope amidst uncertainty. A film which takes a step back from the larger political narrative to focus on the small, personal impacts of kindness and companionship.
